Regarded as home base for divers on Costa Rica’s north Pacific coast, Playa del Coco is the best access point to sub surface sites such as the Catalinas Islands and the Bat Islands, where huge manta rays, dolphins, giant sea turtles, tuna, Mahi Mahi, sailfish and even bull sharks are a common sight. There is excellent snorkeling around the islands just off Coco’s shores as well.
Back on shore, Coco is on the bigger end of the scale, as far as Guanacaste coastal towns go, with a well defined main street lined with restaurants with comfortable patios, bars to suit all interests and some of the best souvenir shopping in the area.
